This virtual retirement site has been created to celebrate the retirement of
Janine Cavicchia
As many of you know, after 29 years at Western Illinois University (31 counting graduate school), Janine has decided to retire, effective June 1, 2016! Her last day in the office will be May 31–the day she returns from her annual two-week vacation with friends at the Outer Banks of North Carolina!
She’s having a traditional retirement reception at the WIU Multicultural Center on Friday, May 6, from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m., and her family, friends, current and former colleagues and students are welcome and invited to attend. However, she realizes it’s a busy time of year for those in academia (at Western, and elsewhere), and a long way to travel for many of you.
So, whether or not you can make it to her traditional celebration, she’s delighted to invite you to her Virtual Retirement Party! Too often people enter our lives in personal and professional ways and then they leave us without hearing the words we wished we had said to them.
Don’t let that happen to Janine! Even a few words, a memory, a poem, passed on now will make all the difference to her later. Here’s your chance to read about and view some photos that capture some of Janine’s memories, share some of your own memories, let Janine know what she has meant to you, post some photos, and/or offer suggestions for things she should do in her retirement! Watch the short video to get some ideas on what to say.
To join Janine’s virtual retirement party, use the tabs above to leave comments and upload photos so we can share them with her. Janine will be given a special memory book of all the warm wishes and pictures to keep forever. Just click on a tab above and join the party by June 1, 2016! Janine would like to thank all of you for being part of her journey, and for helping her celebrate it!
NOTE: Please forward this link to anyone you think we may have forgotten to invite. Getting two invitations to a party is better than missing out!
